It would be neat if, for a nominal fee, blogs would start publishing a weekly offline roll up of stories.

Aside from a weekly publication, this could be used to put up a programming language quick reference guide, or any number of interesting things.

update: For some reason youtube.com won’t show the video for people. It says “video unavailable”. I tried to upload a new copy of the video, but it said it was a duplicate. Go figure. Here is a link to the raw movie.

Wicked. Just plain wicked.

According to the LA Times, George Lucas is planing on making a live action Star Wars TV series. The only down side for me is I don’t watch TV, so hopefully it’ll be on iTunes or downloadable somehow. Worst case I’ll have to wait for the DVD of the first season or whatever.

Now I know people will say “they’re milking it”, but this is Star Wars man - new Star Wars stuff.

I’ve seen a few Sci-fi shows that are on TV and the vast majority of them are not very good. In my opinion, they don’t quite create the world that Star Wars does. I wind up thinking “these are grown men dressed up with latex on their heads in the back lot of a TV studio. That must be embarrassing”. Nothing has sucked me in to the point where I forget I am watching a show - well maybe Firefly, that was a pretty good show.

And if you fear Jarjar: I had the privilege of going to Skywalker ranch like a year ago or so, and in one area they had a big life size replica of Jarjar encased in carbonite - I think it was symbolic :).

Rambling aside, I am really excited to see what the show is like.

(Fanboy mode off)

There is a great song by NOFX that seems apropos - those NOFX guys are geniuses.

I went to buy the new independent, name-your-own-price Radiohead album In Rainbows, but the checkout process is lame. You have to create an account - I don’t want to create an account I just want to buy the album.

I think this kind of model is the future of music, but they (somebody) needs to workout a better way for the purchase flow. I would absolutly give some cash to bands if it was easy - there is no way I’d be creating 50 different accounts for my 50 favorite bands. Seems like a good opportunity for a business there somehow.

It would be great if it was some sort of easy familiar process - something like iTunes or something :)

I am not a Radiohead fan, but I’d like to support this endeavor. Currently it’s harder to give them money than it is to find the album on the internets. Once they get the ease of payment sorted … … interesting times.

By the way, the In Rainbows album is good. It’s mellow / melancholy, and pretty good to code to. Check it out - the album cost anywhere you want between free and £42.

If you work at NBC, here is a post from an ex-paying customer. Take it or leave it.

We don’t have TV in my house. Most TV is complete junk and a waste of my time in my opinion. I would much rather read a book, read the internet, or work on some hobbies. However, every once in a while I like a little guilty pleasure. My guilty pleasure was The Office.

Ever since I saw the British version, I was hooked. The show was a nice time killer. My wife and I would wait anxiously for the new episodes to be posted on iTunes, and then have our weekly office episode dinner.

Here is a screen shot of my iTunes library so you can see I am not just making this up (some are missing because they got corrupted):

I would not pay $4.99 an episode. That is ridiculous. So now instead of me giving you $2.00 for something you give away free on the air waves, you get nothing. And even if iTunes raised the price to $4.99, I wouldn’t pay it so you’d still get nothing from me.

I don’t understand your logic, and it’s a pity we won’t be watching the Office anymore (unless I am on the road and catch an episode free on the Boobtube), or watch it free posted in pieces on youtube.

The British version only lasted 3 seasons, too bad the American one only lasted 3 too :-/

He is going for the Republican nomination, but reguardless of your political stance, what he says might strike a chord with you (as it did with me).

He is probably the first politian I have ever seen that seems to have honor, integrity, and calls it like he sees it. I don’t agree with all of his policies (if you read his web site), but I am quite amazed by his candor and integrity.

The other interesting thing about him is he is running almost his whole campaign for presidency using the net. He is using youtube.com, flickr, myspace etc because it seems he is the black sheep of the Republican party, and gets very little love on the normal media outlets.

Anyway, check this out:
