I stumbled upon a brief, but interesting podcast episode with Jonathan Franzen about his trip to China. They briefly cover some topics such as pollution, the Olympic games, information suppression, and the western view of China.  You can hear it by clicking on the “Out Loud” audio player on the top left of the New Yorker home page.

They don’t have a permalink to the Out Loud episode that I could find, so if you are reading this post past April 17, 2008 the player will have likely changed. You might be able to search for it in iTunes though.
