I've been reading and playing around with the Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology. While it's mostly just “keep lists and do the stuff” it is a bit more than that. I've been getting more tasks knocked out since I've been playing with it (for the skeptic: but that could just be because I am focusing on it).
I've setup my own way of handling @lists because I haven't really found something that fits my work flow yet. My own way is not quite optimal. It's a combination of emacs, email, and my file system.
Midnight Inbox, however, looks to be a promising little application. It sets up virtual folders of sorts that automatically scan your email and desktop. You can then process the items and create checklists.
It's beta, it crashes a lot (in fact it only ran one time for me), but it is looking like a promising application. You can download and play with the beta: The Midnight Beep ? Blog Archive ? At long last, here it is!
