Judging from these movies, this is a cool new table top computer with an über touch screen++. It does picture resizing like the iphone, plus a heck of a lot more.

This is the first thing I’ve seen come out of Microsoft in a while that made me say “wow, that is fscking cool”.

I want one just to practice my Chinese (reacts to brushes), but the active tiles were really neat too - just watch the movies.

(Hopefully it’s not just hype - not just “this is what we are thinking about someday making”. If it’s a real thing, I want one)

Update: while these look fun as heck, with a USD$10,000 price tag, looks like I won’t be getting one for a long, long - long, long, long time. So I am now back to - I can’t wait for an iphone ^_^

The basic concept of multi-touch is pretty simple. I use FTIR for blob display. I’ve been working on a blob tracking system written in actionscript (http://xsvdo.vox.com/library/post/blob-detection-working-in-flash.html).

http://nuigroup.com/forums/ is a good place to start if you are interested in multi-touch. If enough people are interested, I want to open source everything and get a project started on OSFLASH, provide an alternative to processing, vvvv, and the TUIO protocol. My idea is to create a 100% AS library that handles multi-touch events. I have no doubt that the Fl(ex)ash community would create some cool games, productivity apps, etc.
