If you work at NBC, here is a post from an ex-paying customer. Take it or leave it.

We don’t have TV in my house. Most TV is complete junk and a waste of my time in my opinion. I would much rather read a book, read the internet, or work on some hobbies. However, every once in a while I like a little guilty pleasure. My guilty pleasure was The Office.

Ever since I saw the British version, I was hooked. The show was a nice time killer. My wife and I would wait anxiously for the new episodes to be posted on iTunes, and then have our weekly office episode dinner.

Here is a screen shot of my iTunes library so you can see I am not just making this up (some are missing because they got corrupted):

I Tunes Screen Snapz 001

I would not pay $4.99 an episode. That is ridiculous. So now instead of me giving you $2.00 for something you give away free on the air waves, you get nothing. And even if iTunes raised the price to $4.99, I wouldn’t pay it so you’d still get nothing from me.

I don’t understand your logic, and it’s a pity we won’t be watching the Office anymore (unless I am on the road and catch an episode free on the Boobtube), or watch it free posted in pieces on youtube.

The British version only lasted 3 seasons, too bad the American one only lasted 3 too :-/

weird, if you have netflix (which i think the site is worth the price alone) the us version is available under the “watch it now” feature. pretty sure they have s1 and s2

love the uk version, i just can’t get into the us one.

    Last I checked netflix didn’t have a Mac version - or am I mistaken…

Ricky Gervais - I mean you just can’t top him ^_^. We would actually like to see more of the British ones, but we were taking what we could get - Gareth, he’s wicked too.

The US one is getting kind of soap opera-y anyway - I can understand why it’d be hard to get into.

    Hey Man,

I am right there with you. I blogged about this a couple weeks ago with Universal. People dont get it. The only reason we pay for this crap at all is because its wicked convenient to just get it in iTunes when I am syncing. I am not going to load up some other app to buy their program. I am just gonna go download it somewhere, because its just as much work (maybe less) and it doesn’t cost anything.

With the iPhones selling like hot cakes and the 4th and 5th gen iPods playing thier shows natively they just turned their back on the majority of the market they would have sold their shows to. Now they are left with zunes and PSP for players.

Such a mistake. If only they took into account just how zealotous us Apple Fan boys are. Pulling this makes those of us with TV’s less likely to watch that network at all.

Feeling shafted by NBC’s proposed $4.99 an episode price hike that got their new fall season kicked out of iTunes?

Kevin Wick has been kind enough to look up the contact information for the NBC Executives that are key to getting this situation reversed.

Amy Zelvin, NBC Universal Digital Media Communications, (XXX) XXX-XXXX xxx.xxxxxx@nbcuni.com
Joe Libonati, NBC Universal Television Group Publicity, (XXX) XXX-XXXX xxx.xxxxxxxx@nbcuni.com

    (edit) Some additions-

Jeff Zucker, President and Chief Executive Officer, NBC Universal (XXX) XXX-XXXX xxxx.xxxxxx@nbcuni.com
Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and NBC Universal Television Studio xxx.xxxxxxxxx@nbcuni.com

Now, please don’t call these people and threaten them, cuss them, or yell at them. That’s not going to get anything accomplished.

If, however, you want to politely let them know how you feel about their suggested price increase, and subsequent removal from iTunes, it might actually have some affect.

If enough people call, NBC just might listen…you never know.

I Googled, and there’s a few Torrents available.

Not strictly legal, I suppose, but it’s an option :-)

    Hey Tim,

My apologies for editing your comment, but I am not sure if I could somehow get in trouble for posting other peoples contact information on the net. I thought I’d play it safe, but I wanted to post your comment.

Now people know their names, I am sure if one does a bit of digging you can get those peoples numbers and emails.

    Thanks for the post
