If you have an iPhone, Apple just put out the first software update for the phone - version 1.0.1. According to slashdot, some theorize it’s to head off some stuff that is going to be announced at the Black Hat conference.

To install it, plug in the phone to your computer and in iTunes click the Update button (or Check for updates).

I just did mine, and it went fine. In true Apple style, even the software update message on the phone looked nice.

Interestingly, I had to shut the phone totally off for iTunes to display my phone number after the update. The phone number field just said n/a which is how it was before it was activated. It leads me to believe I couldn’t get phone calls before the reboot, but I didn’t test it.
