Attention Linux users, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is.
Dell is now selling systems with Ubuntu Linux pre-installed. I don’t think they would have started selling them if there wasn’t the possibility of making money off them, but it would be nice if they made a lot of money off Ubuntu (thereby ensuring they keep selling them).
I just recently bought a ThinkPad (and a new battery), and slapped Ubuntu on. They are about 3 months too late for my dollar (which I would have gladly shelled out). I almost want to buy one just to see it – $599 is not bad for a dual-core laptop with a Unix-like OS… can’t beat that. Even System76 isn’t that low.
Interesting times.
