I have been having horrible server problems over the past few months – all kinds of oddities going on with the system. I decided to rebuild the server that hosts this blog (among several other sites).
Since I was doing the rebuild anyway, I decided to just move everything over to EC2 and build an AMI. One of the major benefits of moving to EC2 is: if the server is compromised, or just gets hosed beyond repair, it’s easy to just bring up a new instance and start over.
So far the server is screaming fast compared to the one I was using. The server will likely be much more stable and faster now, but I still have a few sites to move. Apologies if have hit errors in the past, or get any in the next few days.
The text themes in Afae work fine on Mac, but if you are using Linux then you might have noticed that some of the themes don’t work very well (as I have been noticing lately – Ubuntu 9.10). The main problem being, depending on your theme, when you are selecting text the text foreground often isn’t visible or it is very difficult to read.
I’ve been fixing them as I use them, and I think they are all, at least, usable now. If you haven’t noticed this bug, ignore this post, but if you are using Linux and need the fix you can download the fixed themes.
Just unzip them over the textthemes directory into your [eclipse]/plugins/com.rohanclan.afae/textthemes directory and reapply the theme you are using.
The fixes just set the foreground colour for the text when you select text. This will be in the next release, and if you are using something other than Linux / Ubuntu you probably don’t need to bother with this fix.
